3 Ways to Stop Procrastinating!

Most of us procrastinate, a lot.  We make excuses for the reason why we haven’t started a project, or a vision, but the truth is we are just procrastinators. The definition of procrastination according to dictionary.com is:  the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention.  I am the BIGGEST procrastinator I know and I just wanted to share some tips about how you can kick this habit for good (hopefully).

Get off your ass!

Yep, I said it!  Get off the couch, stop being a phone zombie, and just begin!  Whether you want to start a blog, a YouTube channel, sell a fabulous idea, or lose weight, the first step is to start.  It doesn’t matter how perfect you want your project to be once you introduce it to the world, it’s not going to be.  Of course we want to impress our friends and family with our idea and there is nothing wrong with wanting perfection.  Some of the biggest and best brands we love had to start small and most were not instantly successful.

Follow motivational and inspirational people!

Since you’re always on your phone anyway, start following people who are doing what you want to do.  It doesn’t matter if they are only putting on for the camera, the point is you like what they’re doing and that is motivation enough.  You should also start surrounding yourself with people who are “doers” instead of “talkers”.  A lot of people have great ideas and they would rather talk about their ideas all day instead of taking an active first step.  There is nothing wrong with a person who talks about their dreams, but you need people who are actually making moves!

Change your way of thinking!

Instead of making excuses of how you don’t have the startup money or the time, figure out some alternatives.  When there is a will, there is a way.  It’s really just that simple.  People do what they want to do and it doesn’t matter what they have to do in order to get it done.  Think of a time when you really wanted to do something and actually did it.  Maybe you wanted to find a new job, or obtain something that was far-fetched.  I’m sure there were challenges (probably created in your head), but it didn’t matter because you did it!  If you think you can’t, then you won’t.  If you think you can, you will.

One last piece of info is that being lazy and procrastination go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly.  The “I’ll do it tomorrow” attitude prevents half of us from doing anything, ever.  But tomorrow comes and the only thing you have done is think about how you still haven’t started.  Time is very short so if you’re waiting for the perfect time to begin it probably will never show up.  There will always be a reason why you should wait until next week, next month, or even next year.  If you are worried about people judging or criticizing your dreams, I encourage you to try and get over that part.  Do what makes your soul happy!  Once you make your mind up that you’re going to start getting sh!t done, you’ll change for the best.  {insert hug here}

🙂 Aja
